In a pickle...

Have you ever had the problem when too many projects are 'in the works'?
Well I'm in that pickle right now....
Although it's great that I'm crafting and things will get done....eventually,
it is not so beneficial for blogging.
How do I blog half done projects?

...... I don't!
Instead I'll share a pic of my lil sweetie sportin' a Spice Girls Tee....

I've just signed up for instagram and I'm lovin playing around with all the filters.
Even if the kid won't stand still (err), I can still get some cute pics!

Anyways I should be finishing up on some of my projects-in-progress soon.

Fingers crossed.

Valentines Blocks

Last week I decided to whip up these Valentines blocks. I figured since I have kids I have to make an effort to decorate for special days. That being said I have next to nothing for Valentines decor. I had bought these wooden blocks from Michaels with the intent of doing something for T's nursery. But I figured what the heck I would use them for this project instead.

First I painted them white and then adhered paper to all sides, I used Close to my Hearts Sweetheart paper pack. I then stamped letters and words in black ink using the Trinity Alphabet stamp set. Finished it off by adding a few hearts using my ever fabulous heart punch.

Here are some pics of the other sides:

I did the word 'baby' just in case I decided to put it in the nursery after Valentines day. Being that it is pink it would still work in T's room.

But for now it sits on my mantel.

...and I ended up doing a Valentines insert for this frame.

Have a Terrific Tuesday!

Swappin' some Cards

Back in December I was part of a card swap that Sugar and Dots and Fingerprints on the Fridge hosted. This is the card that I sent my swap partner Patty of Pattitudes along with one of my heart bookmarks.

This is the fantastic parcel I received from Patty:

It was beautifully wrapped and inside were two cards and two Christmas tags! Thank you so much Patty it was a nice surprise and such a treat! I plan on using those lovely tags on my Christmas scrapbook layout :) Go check out Patty's blog her craftsmanship wows me, her cards are amazing!...she also has some great recipes.

Thanks so much to Kimmie and Rachelle for hosting the Card Swap, what a fun idea! It's always nice to get something in the mail not to mention meet new blog friends :)

Vintage Dutch Girls

When I was sick a week ago I really wanted to do some projects, but all I felt like doing was laying on the couch.  So I decided to do a low key, relaxing project.... embroidery.

I had bought this piece of cloth this past summer at a garage sale for .25 cents! It had vintage embroidery patterns on all four corners. The little dutch girls are so adorable!

These shoes are on two of the corners.

I actually put this embroidery piece aside recently to work on some Valentines projects but I'll be sure to show you when it is completed.

sidenote: I was thinking about making the second little girl a free pdf pattern for anyone who might want it... not exactly sure how to do that though so if you are computer savvy and want to help me out that would be fab!

Valentines Coupon Jar

A couple of years ago I made this spin on a coupon book for my hubby and I thought I'd share it with you since Valentines day is coming up. It was easy to revamp/recycle an old jar and use up some of my scrapbook paper.

Although I had good intentions with all the coupons inside (I also included some sentiments), hubby never 'claimed' any......so it kind of defeated the purpose.....BUT I think this would work great as a gift for older kids, the gift that keeps on giving after the special day.

Happy Valentines Day crafting!

Shirt = Dress, Headband and ... (pt.2)

It seems like it has been FOREVER since I posted last.
(It has only been a week, but it has been a long one)
Today is the first day in awhile that I have been feeling healthy, so I thought I better try and get back into the swing of things... besides a friend and a family member have been bugging me about seeing the same post for awhile now..
..ahem mom and Nicole, here you go!

Remember this shirt:

I made a dress for S and a headband for T:

I mentioned that I was going to make a skirt or a ruffle onesie for T...
but I had enough fabric leftover to do both! yay!
I bought a $4 onesie from walmart and then sewed on the ruffles and the skirt.
Made a cute bow to add some flare.
A pretty easy way to make a shabby-chic outfit for next to nothing!

Also I found an extra button sewed onto the tag on the inside of the original shirt I decided to save it and it works perfectly in the middle of the bow.

Sometimes baby girl isn't that modest when wearing skirts.....haha
Can you believe after finishing the onesie I was able to make a couple flowers for another headband!

Needless to say there is nothing left of the shirt after I was finished with it!
Hope you have a fantastic weekend!

Some favorites from 2011....

I was originally going to show a collage of all my projects from 11',
but that is too much work for this coughing/sneezing/sniffling gal!

Instead I decided to pick a favorite project from each month.
It was harder than you might think to just pick one, here they are:

1.  In January I made a lot of card packs, this one was my favorite.
2. A Scrapbook layout of my beautiful Grandma in her younger years.
3. The toddler quilt I made for S's big girl room.
4. The name cushion which would go on top of the quilt.
5. My bird family portrait painting.
6. A bolster pillow re-cover with hand embroidery for the guest room.
7. Big sister shirt for the big sister.
8. The Air balloon and sunshine canvas' for the nursery.
9. The Owl Iphone case... my most viewed post to date!
10. My Homemade diaper bag, which is still getting a lot of use.
11. The pincushion frame tutorial.
12. My t-shirt repurpose....another post coming soon with the skirt/ruffle onesie!

I am pretty happy with all I've accomplished in the last year...I've already started on some lovelies for this year and I can't wait to share them with you!!

Keepin' My Ears Warm

I've been feeling under the weather lately.
I've caught two different colds in the past ten days and the latest one has hit me hard.
This has brought a VERY slow start to my 2012....
....but luckily for you I have some projects leftover from 2011 to share!

In the midst of making Christmas gifts I realized I needed something to keep my ears warm for all the outdoor activities we'd be doing over the Christmas season (for instance making Frosty). I decided to try my hand at an ear warmer, since that is what I needed it to do, haha.....besides toques give you hat hair right?!

I wanted to make it out of fleece but the color selection was horrible at Walmart so I made it out of felt instead. (fleece would be easier for washing so I would go with that if you have the option)

 Supplies:
-Felt or fleece
- sewing machine
- button
-scissors

1. Cut a strip long enough to fit around your head (add some inches for the button hole to overlap) and wide enough to add thickness (Mine was 10 inches wide by 26 inches long ).
2. Fold it into four lengthwise. I actually folded the two long edges into the middle and then fold it in half...if that makes sense? Making one thick strip (when folded mine was 2.5 inches wide and 26 inches long)
3. Top stitch around the whole rectangle.
4. Sew on a button at one end
5. Cut a hole in the opposite end for the button to fit through
6. Add any embellishments you may want to add (my flower is also made of felt).

What an easy make-it-myself way to keep my ears warm.....without the hat head!
