Stuck on Elvis

One of our local big name stores is going to be getting renovated soon so they have been having some awesome deals lately to get rid of stock. They had all their school supplies on for $0.44 each. With all the uber cute valentine ideas floating around pinterest it was no surprise that I thought I could use something from the sale.

My friend was already using an idea with markers so I figured I would work with the pack of gluesticks which immediately made me think of Elvis Presley's song 'Stuck Like Glue'. So I printed the lyrics on a tag tied it to the glue. Super easy and cheap Valentine's for S's preschool classmates.

Happy Monday!

Easy Homemade Valentine

Since we are going to be moving around Valentine's day I decided to get an early start on some treats for the girls to hand out to their friends.
These are so simple to make! Just wrap a toilet paper roll in some nice paper, stuff it with some candy, wrap it in cellophane and tie both ends with ribbon. Add a cute little tag and your done!

Are you making homemade Valentines this year?
If you need another idea check out the cute ones we made last year.

Happy Thursday!

Candy Heart Valentine's Shirts

 Valentine's shirts...what's the point?
They are cute.
...plus hearts can be worn year round right??

I wanted to make these as easy and as inexpensive as possible, so I raided the girls closets looking for shirts that could be revamped. And I was successful!

A turtle neck that S has never worn and would be much more useful cut up and made into a ruffle shirt with a cute heart applique...And for T a cute colorful undershirt that has really never been seen because it has been just that, an undershirt. I went and bought a fat quarter in a simple print that would match the pink in the onesie.

And because I couldn't help myself I did a bit of stitchery making the hearts more of a candy heart idea with sayings on them.

Cut out the heart shapes and used heat n' bond to attach to the shirts...done!

Of course it took me a little more time to transform the turtle neck into the ruffle shirt, but I think it was worth it!

Here are my little sweeties!

My attempt at taking a pic of the girls together....
T is screaming and S is being bribed by daddy (with candy) to smile
.....and it's blurry
......I tried.

Happy Valentine's Day !

Chocolate dipped pretzels

Here is a quick last minute Valentine's treat to make for your kidlets or someone special!

I happened to have all the ingredients on hand so I thought I would whip these up yesterday. All you need is a bag of pretzels, chocolate baking squares, and sprinkles(optional).

Microwave the chocolate in a bowl for a couple of minutes at fifty percent power.
Stir to make sure it is all melted and then add your pretzels a few at a time, turning over with tongs to make sure the whole thing is covered.

Place on a tray that is covered with wax paper and sprinkle with sprinkles before the chocolate starts to harden.

Place the tray in the fridge to harden.
When the chocolate is hardened completely they are ready to serve!

I think they kind of look like little chocolate hearts....
An easy peasy, yummy treat just in time for Valentines day!

I also baked a little....
I substituted these for the chocolate chips in this recipe....YUM!

Young Love

I thought this idea was so great.
It's not only stitching on paper (which I like to do for scrapbook layouts)
BUT it is also your classic sign of young/blissful/cheesy LOVE.

Let's face it, some of us marrieds like to think back to those dating days when there was:
giddiness, lots-a-handholdin, endless conversations about nothing,
corny romantic gestures, efforts to impress, no bills,
no diapers, no crying/screaming but oh-so-cute children, etc. etc.

Not saying that me and hubby don't have our romantic moments, because we do!
It's just different, more mature.....
maybe instead of young love we have a middle age love, haha!
(Not old because we are still learning new things about each other,
....especially on this crazy ride called 'parenthood'!)

Anyways when I saw a piece of woodgrain paper in my scrap bin, I quickly snatched it up. I trimmed it to 5x7 and hand drew the heart and initials on ( I choose to use my maiden name initials just to add whimsy), I then stitched with bright red embroidery thread. It is now framed and looking pretty in my living room!

I Love you CK!!

Two little (thumb) bodies

Aren't these just the cutest valentines day cards??

I saw this idea on pinterest and it came from brown paper packages blog .
I couldn't help myself I had to make them with the girlies to send to some of our loved ones for Valentines day.
It was as easy as printing out the wording, grabbing some ink and pressing down the girls thumbs. Finish it off with a lil doodle and adhering to some card stock!
They are all written out and ready to send.

I LOVE how they turned out!

Valentines Blocks

Last week I decided to whip up these Valentines blocks. I figured since I have kids I have to make an effort to decorate for special days. That being said I have next to nothing for Valentines decor. I had bought these wooden blocks from Michaels with the intent of doing something for T's nursery. But I figured what the heck I would use them for this project instead.

First I painted them white and then adhered paper to all sides, I used Close to my Hearts Sweetheart paper pack. I then stamped letters and words in black ink using the Trinity Alphabet stamp set. Finished it off by adding a few hearts using my ever fabulous heart punch.

Here are some pics of the other sides:

I did the word 'baby' just in case I decided to put it in the nursery after Valentines day. Being that it is pink it would still work in T's room.

But for now it sits on my mantel.

...and I ended up doing a Valentines insert for this frame.

Have a Terrific Tuesday!

Valentines Coupon Jar

A couple of years ago I made this spin on a coupon book for my hubby and I thought I'd share it with you since Valentines day is coming up. It was easy to revamp/recycle an old jar and use up some of my scrapbook paper.

Although I had good intentions with all the coupons inside (I also included some sentiments), hubby never 'claimed' any......so it kind of defeated the purpose.....BUT I think this would work great as a gift for older kids, the gift that keeps on giving after the special day.

Happy Valentines Day crafting!

Cutesy Cupcakes!

Aren't these soooo cute!! A valentine's gift of cozy socks wrapped up in a yummy mock-cupcake!
I got this fabulous idea from Becky B.'s Blog and did her tutorial found here . I had to do a couple things the hard way, for instance: hand punching the scalloped edge with a corner rounder AND hand crimping the paper by indenting lines on both sides than folding(so not fun!). It was worth it though cause they turned out so cute! Also I didn't have pompoms on hand so I used red buttons instead. I also added a cute little heart tag and voila, a treat for your feet!

A picture of my random stamped cardstock (my first ever), I was happy with the way it turned out! I used Close to my Heart stamps: Love Is and Cherished Flourishes. (sorry the pic is so dark!)

The finished product, don't you just wanna eat em':

You Warm My Heart

These were the Valentine's day cards I made to sell at the home based business show that was yesterday (a post coming shortly to tell about the 'dud' event). Luckily, I have quite a few leftover so I don't need to make anymore to give away at Valentine's!
I found the basic idea for the front on the CTMH bulletin board. I just love the A Sip stamp set, and adding the hearts from the A Game stamp set just made it that much cuter! I also embossed the spoon in silver, popped up two of the hearts, and added bitty sparkles for some bling. On the inside I adhered a teabag packet with a belt of cardstock just to add something extra. Stamped a matching envelope and tada, a valentine for someone who 'warms your heart'!

Supplies used (all CTMH unless otherwise noted):
- A Sip stamp set
- A Game stamp set
- Holiday Hoopla stamp set
- Friendship Alphabet stamp set
- Cranberry, Colonial White, and Blush cardstock
- Cranberry, Baby Pink, and Hollyhock Ink
- Patterened Paper from Route 66 paper packet
- 3D dots
- Silver embossing powder, Versamark ink, and Heat Gun
- Bitty Sparkles

...more Valentines projects coming soon!
