Easter Mantel

Our fireplace is located in the middle of our living room so I have two mantels to decorate. I always have one side decorated in holiday or seasonal items.
Right now it is decked out in bright spring colors for Easter!

When I saw this Bible verse printable offered at One Dog Woof I knew I needed to include it in my decor. I also found this adorable little girl printable from le papier studio and thought it would be like my girlies ages next year.

I also had to incorporate some of my handmade projects.
My most recent being the little birdhouse and then two projects that I had done last year, the Spring Frame and the Easter Pennant Banner.
The birds nest with eggs and the two little bunnies came from Dollarama.

I also included this little bear (dressed up as a bunny) that was given to me from my parents one Easter, way back when... I actually collected these bears, Cherished Teddies.

I have two more projects related to Easter that I'm working on but I'm not sure if I'll have them posted by next week. We'll see if I actually finish them in time, haha.

A Little Birdhouse

The other day I went to Dollarama looking for treats to include in the girls Easter baskets. I stumbled upon this cute little raw wood birdhouse and I knew it would fit perfectly with the Easter decor on my mantel. All it needed was a little bit of paint!

I think it turned out so cute! It took me awhile to decide on the colors and I am happy with what I came up with. I wanted to incorporate pink so I pulled out my bakers twine (in cotton candy) and wrapped it around the house.

Do you recognize my Easter table runner?
It is on my kitchen table as we speak, it's just so cheery.

You will be able to see the birdhouse in it's spot on my mantel this Thursday.

P.S. I also found these awesome fabric flower ponytails at the dollar store, a 3 pack for $1.25....I could not say no to that! Now I have all these pretties:

Swapping some Stitchery

You may have noticed the button on my sidebar about the Stitch Swap happening over at Wild Olive. Well I finished my piece just the other day and I am going to be sending it off to the lucky recipient on Monday, with some extra goodies.
It isn't perfect but I'm happy with how it turned out!

I wrapped fabric around the edge to finish it off,
thanks to Allison over at Little Lovelies for that fab idea!

I had this pattern in my embroidery folder on my computer (.... before I signed up for Pinterest) so I have no idea who the designer is or who to give credit to, so if you know please send me a note so I can give credit where credit is due!

On another note....
I've had to remove my Owl Iphone Tutorial, click on the link for more info.

Twine Wrapped Letters

Today I'm sharing with you a project that I did using Bakers Twine that I won from The Twinery (mentioned in this post).

I have seen a lot of projects using yarn to wrap around letters but I thought I would go with a smaller scale and try out the Bakers Twine.

I had bought a 'family' sign from Dollarama awhile back and painted it brown. After that it just sat in my unfinished pile until it dawned on me to wrap it with this beautiful twine!
I had to repaint it white, brown just wouldn't do.

Using Aleene's Tacky Glue I slowly wrapped the twine around the letters.

I was discouraged after finishing my first letter because I had broke the F. But using the same glue I mended it and it is as good as new!

I then continued on and finished wrapping all the letters.

The colors used: Flax - FML,  Shore - A, Caribbean - I, and Honeydew -Y.

I can't wait to use more on other projects! I think it adds the perfect splash of color!

Lucky Me!

Since it is St. Patricks Day I thought I would share with you some LUCK that I've been having recently in regards to blog world!

I have won two giveaways from some awesome blogs:

Lindy at Itsy Bitsy Paper hosted a giveaway and I was one of three winners to receive
18 colors of Bakers Twine from The Twinery to play around with!

I love them all!! Post coming this week of my first project using them!
Thanks Lindy and The Twinery!!

I also won a prize during Paige's Birthday Bash on Pink Lemonade,
Jamie from The Letter 4 designed me a new blog header and button (coming soon).

I'm not sure if you've heard of The Letter 4 but Jamie and her three sisters have even been on the Martha Stewart show because of there fabulous blog! I have to admit I considered myself a lil blogger starstruck when I was sending emails back and forth with her. Thanks again Jamie!

I was also given two blog awards this month!

Kay from Jerry and Kay has been so kind and nominated me for two awards first being the Liebster award.
Liebster means "favorite" and is given to bloggers with fewer than 200 followers.
To accept it I must pass it on to five other blogs.

Check them out, they all Rock!

And just this past week I found out that Kay had given me another award!
She has left such encouraging words on my blog and awarding me not only one but two awards has been such an honor. Go visit her blog and say hello! She makes some really sweet things for her grand daughter and has some great recipes!
Anyways onto the next award....

 1. Who or what inspires you the most?
Lately being connected to other bloggers through Pinterest has been so inspiring.

 2. What is the best part of your day?
I'm not really a morning person, but when the girls wake up soo happy I can't help but think that is the best part of the day, the morning playtime/coffee for mom.

 3. What is your favorite childhood memory?
Playing with my sister, either dress-up or barbies....and making our own home videos

 4. What is the best gift you have ever received?
My cousin gave me a chinese paint brush set as a Graduation gift, I have always thought it was so unique and special.... I also cherish anything homemade. When someone puts in the time and effort to make something especially for me, I think that's pretty phenomenal!

 5. If you could have dinner with any famous person, dead or alive, who would it be and why?
haha, well probably Johnny Depp.... I have a crush on him.

6. What is something new that you have learned in the last month?
That you can make dryer sheets into embellishments for scrapbook layouts or cards.

7. What is something that you wish you could do one day but haven't tried yet?
Crochet...which I plan on learning when I'm at my moms for Easter. I also would like to try pottery some time, but I already have too many creative outlets at the moment, ha.

And now to pass on the award to 7 lovely bloggers:

Hope you have a bit'o luck today!
Happy St. Patty's Day!
