Pretend Make-up from Nail Polish

When I'm in the bathroom doing my make-up little girl is right beside me getting into things and pretending to do her makeup too.
When I saw this fab idea Here, I knew I had to give it a try.

Sidenote: I actually did this before Christmas (hence the 2011 watermarks) but I didn't give it to S until a couple of days ago.

Start out with an empty and cleaned out eyeshadow case.
Carefully pour different colors of nail polish into the compartments.

Let dry completely.
I actually set mine out in the garage for a couple of days because the nail polish I used had a very strong smell.

Give it to your little one to play with, along with an applicator of course.

She loves it!
I can't wait to empty some more containers so that I can add to her cosmetic bag!

Insta-pics

I have just recently joined the instagram craze and I'm loving it. What a way to make boring ordinary pictures look fantastic. I decided I would like to do a regular post with my most recent pics....although I haven't decided whether it would be weekly, monthly, or completely random. Either way here is my first batch! (besides this pic I shared a few weeks ago)

1. S eats tomatoes like apples.... weird kid, I know...
2. Crashed
3. yup..... we are selling our house....
4. Our one and only pet, Lola the white goldfish.
5. Me and T ready for a night out.
6. I had three of our nieces over for a sleepover. We did some crafting...they drew on fabric with fabric crayons then we sewed the squares together and stuffed them to make cushions.
7. My lil cutie.
8.  A unique family shot that I captured while spending some time at an indoor amusement park.
9. Nothing like homemade donuts! Yum.

Mr. Darcy

I stitched up this little piece for a friend of mine who is obsessed  likes Pride and Prejudice. Seriously she has the movie memorized word for word, and she will quote it while you're watching ! .... no lie.

I saw this quote on pinterest and I instantly thought of her and wanted to do it in stitching. I didn't want to do it too big and when I remembered that I had some small frames (like the one I used in this tutorial) I got right on it! The inside measures about 2 inches by 3 inches.

I was almost tempted to keep it for myself but I did end up sending it to her and I hope she likes it!

Reverse Applique Heart Shirt

When I saw how easy it was to do a reverse applique over at Sweet Verbena, I just had to try it. I bought a plain t-shirt at Superstore and drew out my plan.

 I then followed Katy's tutorial
I even added a bit of stitching inspired by another one of her posts.

I think it turned out kinda cute!

I don't know about you, but I hate taking pictures of myself. There is probably 20 or so that I ended up deleting. This was the best that I could come up with.
It really makes me wonder how people can do 'What I Wore Posts'.
Oh and don't mind my gross sweat pants and my granny slippers....
.... I think I need a mannequin.

Damask Cards

Today I thought I would share some cards that I made back when I made this card.
These are made completely out of cardstock, I stamped a 12 x 12 page with the damask image. I love how they turned out...I'm a sucker for damask!

The colors used are Close to my Heart brand:
Lagoon, Gypsy, Sweet Leaf, Colonial White, and Cocoa.

Problem solved...

This is Ariel.

She is often found around our house like this:

I usually don't care whether S's dolls have clothes or not but lately she has wanted to take Ariel EVERYWHERE! I prefer them to be clothed when we are out in public and that dang little bikini top is hard to find when your in a rush.

This is my solution.

 nailpolish :)

I drew on lines before hand because I didn't want the nail polish to show when she is wearing the cloth bikini.

What girl doesn't enjoy a new swimsuit?
Now Ariel gets to sport hers ALL the time and I don't have to search high and low for that itsy bitsy teeny weeny purple shell bikini!

Tidbit:
The Little Mermaid is my favorite princess Disney movie and was my first ever movie seen in theater.

Tag your it!

Prepare yourself this will be a longer post than usual,
BUT you will learn quite a few new things about me along the way,
so grab a coffee and read on.

We are playing a game of tag! And I am It!
I was tagged by the fabulous Amy of Love on High Heat (formally known as Madamyt). She is a riot! Go check out her blog, she makes amazing food and her stories are usually good for a laugh.
Thanks Amy for passing on the fun!

Here Are The Rules:
1. Post these rules  2. You must post 11 random things about yourself 3. Answer the questions the tagger set for you in their post  4. Create 11 new questions for the people you tag to answer (this might be hard)  5. Go to their blog & and tell them that you've tagged them.

11 Random things about me....

1. I hate going shopping for jeans.

2. I take both cream and sugar in my coffee...and I have several cups a day.

3. I sometimes over analyze movies to the point of losing sleep.
4. I played Maria in grade 12 when my highschool put on the musical
'The Sound of Music'

( No I was not formerly a nun-in-training .... but Maria Von Trapp was.)

5. If I could hire out a household job it would be cooking... I really don't like being in the kitchen, except for the odd baking day.

6. I usually have 5-10 lists going at the same time
(grocery list, project list, to-do list, etc. etc.)
.... I heart lists ... I'm a nerd like that :)

7. I bought a smash book and I love it! (Post coming soon.)

8. I sell Beauti Control.

9. I went to Bible college, which is where I met my hubs.

10. I just recently accepted that my Bro-in-law looks like Ryan Gosling due to this picture from this site.

11. I'm not an ice cream person.

Here are my Q's from Amy:

1. If you had just won 1 Million Bucks... what would be the first thing you would buy? I'm sure I would want to purchase something big, but right now I would really love a shopping spree on a whole bunch of smaller items (clothes, shoes, bags, crafting supplies, etc.)

2.Mac or HP? Mac

3.You're deserted on an island... list your 3 must haves! A huge blanket, Bible, and a box of matches....

4.Do you love to ride Roller coasters? Nope

5.What is the first thing you do when you walk through the door from work/school? Well since I'm a stay-at-home-mom I'll say the first thing I do after the kids go to bed (similar to the end of a work/school day) and that is: sit down and relax or get at some craftin'

6.Describe your favourite Saturday. Any saturday spent at home with my little family are usually pretty awesome....sleeping in would be the cherry on top!

7.What is your favourite Coffee from Starbucks? I'm going to tweak this and say my favorite drink...which is a Chai Tea Latte .... ah-mazing!

8.Beach Vacation or Mountain Getaway? I can not pass-up a day at the beach relaxing, and with kids it would definitely be more enjoyable in my opinion.

9.Would you rather wash or dry the dishes? Depends where I'm doing dishes, if I'm familiar with where the dishes go I prefer drying but if I don't I prefer to wash.

10.The one thing in your fridge/pantry that is always stocked? Popcorn

(that's 2 popcorn makers, a popcorn bowl full of seasonings, and 2 popcorn kernel containers!)

11.Would you rather have a high-rise penthouse in an amazing city or a country cottage in a quiet small town?  a country cottage, I'm a smalltown girl, I don't think I could handle the big city for too long

And Tag, your it!

Here are my Q's for you:

If you could be anyone for a day who would you be?
If you could visit anywhere in the world where would you go?
What was your most memorable birthday?
Do you have any siblings?
What household job is your least favorite?
Chocolate or Vanilla?
Give one word that you would use to describe yourself.
What's your favorite movie of all time?
Iphone or Blackberry?
Did you do anything special for Valentine's day?
When did you start your blog?

I look forward to seeing everyone's answers :)

That was fun! Thanks Amy!

Candy Heart Valentine's Shirts

 Valentine's shirts...what's the point?
They are cute.
...plus hearts can be worn year round right??

I wanted to make these as easy and as inexpensive as possible, so I raided the girls closets looking for shirts that could be revamped. And I was successful!

A turtle neck that S has never worn and would be much more useful cut up and made into a ruffle shirt with a cute heart applique...And for T a cute colorful undershirt that has really never been seen because it has been just that, an undershirt. I went and bought a fat quarter in a simple print that would match the pink in the onesie.

And because I couldn't help myself I did a bit of stitchery making the hearts more of a candy heart idea with sayings on them.

Cut out the heart shapes and used heat n' bond to attach to the shirts...done!

Of course it took me a little more time to transform the turtle neck into the ruffle shirt, but I think it was worth it!

Here are my little sweeties!

My attempt at taking a pic of the girls together....
T is screaming and S is being bribed by daddy (with candy) to smile
.....and it's blurry
......I tried.

Happy Valentine's Day !

Chocolate dipped pretzels

Here is a quick last minute Valentine's treat to make for your kidlets or someone special!

I happened to have all the ingredients on hand so I thought I would whip these up yesterday. All you need is a bag of pretzels, chocolate baking squares, and sprinkles(optional).

Microwave the chocolate in a bowl for a couple of minutes at fifty percent power.
Stir to make sure it is all melted and then add your pretzels a few at a time, turning over with tongs to make sure the whole thing is covered.

Place on a tray that is covered with wax paper and sprinkle with sprinkles before the chocolate starts to harden.

Place the tray in the fridge to harden.
When the chocolate is hardened completely they are ready to serve!

I think they kind of look like little chocolate hearts....
An easy peasy, yummy treat just in time for Valentines day!

I also baked a little....
I substituted these for the chocolate chips in this recipe....YUM!
