For a sweet lil baby

When I was at home (meaning my parents...home is where your mother is? right.), I was able to attend my friends baby shower. It was her first baby and I was so excited for her when she had her sweet baby girl. I wanted to make her something special. I had seen this project from midwestern girl and pinned it quite awhile ago waiting for the perfect opportunity to whip it up. And this was my chance! I called my friend to see what color scheme she had went with in the baby's room, I didn't want to be totally off with my colors. And she said pink and grey, perfect!

It was as simple as using a butterfly punch on an array of papers, lining them up on a background sheet, adhering each one with a gluedot and propping up the wings (if you use a shadowbox, otherwise they would be flat). I wrote out babies name in pencil and then hand stitched over top. And stuck it in the frame.
I absolutely love how it turned out!

I also made her a Baby Moments Pail. This time I used washi tape instead of paper (inspired by a friend who had made pails up for teachers gifts, filled with goodies. Thanks Candace!). Check out my other pail here. Again I stuck with the main color scheme of grey and pink.

Happy Wednesday!

Organized: the pantry

In preparation for the big move (hopefully happening in the next week or so) I have been going through the house and organizing random stuff. My plan is that it can just be moved right over into whichever closet/drawer/shelf it needs to be in without having to really go through it again.
Anyways I just had to share with you my new organized pantry!
(I had given a sneak peek in my insta-pics, but I wanted to share more.)
Although it will be perfected at the new place, I am just so happy with how it turned out! I used my cricut with the vinyl paper to label all my containers. It was so easy and looks great! (I used the Close to my Heart Art Philosophy cartridge)
Have a closer look.

The above containers I got at Dollarama and below I reused baby 'puff' containers (you know those really soft baby cereal snacks, we went through a ton). I had been using these unlabeled for the last 8 months or so...it is sure nice to not have to look in every single one to find what I'm looking for!

The spice rack lazy suzanne was a wedding gift and the small jars on top are from Dollarama. The big serving platter (dubbing as my bread bowl) was a  wedding gift as well and I like it too much to have it stored somewhere for only special occasions. The glass containers with the stainless steel lids are also from Dollarama and the red containers are Tupperware.

Looking forward to seeing it all at the new house.

Happy Thursday!

A gift.

I had my sister in laws name this year in the family draw on my hubby's side. As part of her gift I decided to make and frame a scrapbook page for her. Their family had really nice pictures taken back in summer (same photographer as us actually), so I had some great pictures to work with. The one of them walking away (above) is one of my faves!

I used the CTMH paperpack Avonlea as my starting point. Added some texture with velvet rub-ons, ribbon and flowers as well as some filigree brads. I didn't want to take away from the photographs with a large title so I just used the small 'family' tag and the rub-on above the large picture.

I am definitely happy with how it turned out. And she had it hanging on her wall Christmas day so I guess that's a good sign that she likes it too.

P.S. I made a couple other handmade gifts this Christmas season... I made my mom a 12x12 scrapbooked calendar and my mom-in-law a mini album. I had been trying to get these projects done in time for Christmas (hence the shortage on posts in December) and totally forgot about pictures for the blog, oh well, there's always next year!

Muffin Tin Advent Calendar

Sorry I've been MIA for the last week. Between getting ready for Christmas, a cookie swap, and baby girl having an allergic reaction I haven't had much time to post anything.
Last week I managed to get this muffin tin advent calendar done just in time for the 1st of the month. I got the idea from Queen Bee Coupons who found it in Family Fun magazine. Since a mini muffin tin has 24 spots it works perfectly. I also had enough paper left over from the Close to my Heart paper pack that I've been using in most of my Christmas projects, score!
Bonus, with how many times we move it's nice to think I'm not adding to the stuff that has to be packed (just a lil baggie of circles!).

To keep the treats in, I put tape over the opening like above and then pressed the circle on top. Like the original I hope to make them actually magnetic. Due to lack of time this is how it will be for this Christmas.

Easy enough project, here are my simple instructions:

you'll need:
mini muffin tin
Cardstock and/or patterned paper
tape(if your in a rush) or adhesive magnetic sheet(s)
treats that fit inside

- cut out 24 paper circles to fit over openings (mine were around 2 1/4 inches). Number 1-24 and decorate to your liking. Cut out 24 circles from the magnetic sheet(s). Adhere paper to magnetic pieces. Fill the cups with the treats, place circles over top. Easy Peasy!

See the matching joy frame to the left? So glad I had some paper left over. I also painted the sled to the right...way back in 1999 (age 13). My mom taught folk art painting classes and I got to join in on this one. Neat huh!

In other news, we put up our tree last night and my parents are coming tomorrow for a mini-Christmas since we won't be seeing them over the holidays.
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!
Happy Thursday!

Almost Caught Up

At the end of October I was able to go to the local scrapbook retreat, again. This time I came home with a total of 28 pages completed. It felt so great to be caught up again. Although I now have Halloween to do and I didn't quite finish up T's first year album, so that's now at the top of my list.

Anyways I thought I would share a few of the layouts I did.

From T's album...

 Mothers Day...

A random layout of T's cuteness in the family album...

 Some summer activities....

And last but not least, my favorite layout from the weekend. One of the girlies together...

Damask Cards

Today I thought I would share some cards that I made back when I made this card.
These are made completely out of cardstock, I stamped a 12 x 12 page with the damask image. I love how they turned out...I'm a sucker for damask!

The colors used are Close to my Heart brand:
Lagoon, Gypsy, Sweet Leaf, Colonial White, and Cocoa.

Valentines Blocks

Last week I decided to whip up these Valentines blocks. I figured since I have kids I have to make an effort to decorate for special days. That being said I have next to nothing for Valentines decor. I had bought these wooden blocks from Michaels with the intent of doing something for T's nursery. But I figured what the heck I would use them for this project instead.

First I painted them white and then adhered paper to all sides, I used Close to my Hearts Sweetheart paper pack. I then stamped letters and words in black ink using the Trinity Alphabet stamp set. Finished it off by adding a few hearts using my ever fabulous heart punch.

Here are some pics of the other sides:

I did the word 'baby' just in case I decided to put it in the nursery after Valentines day. Being that it is pink it would still work in T's room.

But for now it sits on my mantel.

...and I ended up doing a Valentines insert for this frame.

Have a Terrific Tuesday!
