Embroidered Coffee Kozy

I made this coffee kozy as a belated birthday gift for my mother-in-law and gave it to her yesterday, so now I can finally share it on my blog! This turned out so cute, I was almost tempted to keep it for myself!

The quote was one that I have not forgotten ever since I saw it (being a coffee junkie myself) so I thought it would go perfect with the little cup of joe (which I found the pattern for HERE).

The front is muslin and here is a view of the backside, some brown and white floral fabric.

A fabulous button for closure. (the photo doesn't do it justice, it is brown with a shimmery gold center)

In other news: I'm working on my first ever tutorial post which should be up sometime soon!

A Little Fairy

A cute embroidery piece I recently finished. The quote is one that I had in my stash and the fairy pattern I got from google image search. I am currently on the hunt for a perfect frame for it, it is bigger than a 5x7 and smaller than an 8x10 so I'm trying to find a long narrow frame...I'll let you know if I ever find the 'perfect frame'.

Hope you're having an awesome Monday!

Toddler Bed Quilt

Finally I can present the finished product, my daughters quilt for her toddler bed! I put the binding on the quilt on Wednesday night, man did it feel good to have this project done!
This was the fabric that I had mentioned ordering in this post. The front is made up of Amy Butlers Soul Blossoms collection, the pre-cut strips in the jelly roll made it super simple to put together.

Added pink flannel for backing and white broadcloth for the binding. I was able to quilt it on my sewing machine because I used thin cotton quilt batting, I just followed the lines of the jelly roll pieces and quilted around the applique.

I got the idea for the applique here and used scraps that I had in my fabric collection. Using Heat and Bond, I attached the pieces to the quilt then I machine sewed around all parts of the flower and leaves but I ended up hand sewing around the 'S' with embroidery floss.

Next up: matching curtains and cushions (the curtains I started last night). Hoping to have everything done for when we move into our house and I can set up her 'big girl' room without any missing elements. Happy Crafting!

Easter Dress

Sorry, I've been neglecting my blog lately. I travelled home to my parents for a week and then I just got back from a weekend at a friends house. It's been a busy March! My husband has been so busy working on our new house that I figured why not get away for a little bit, so I packed up the kid and went!

Anyways back to the kerr-afty end of things:
This is the completed 18-24 month old dress that I made for my daughters Easter dress for this year. The outfit is not quite finished because I will also be making ruffled leggings to go with it ( although she won't need those til later on in the summer, when she is a bit taller, for now it's just a normal dress). I'm happy with how it turned out! There will be more pictures to come of my girlie actually wearing it, you just have to be patient. There is a free tutorial for the dress on the Moda Bakeshop Blog.

On another note:
Both my parents and my husbands parents went on a trip to Hawaii in the last couple of months. I have been fortunate enough to be there twice myself in my high school days. I have a lot of fond memories of the beautiful island of Oahu and hope to get back there someday. The one thing I requested as a souvenir is this heavenly liquid of deliciousness:

From both sets of parents going, I was able to snag 3 bottles! Wahoo!

Seriously though, if you are going to the Hawaiian islands you have got to try this stuff (not necessarily this brand), it is A-mazing!! The memory of this taste has stayed with me for many years.....

A stack of pancakes smothered in coconut syrup and a few pounds heavier, I am a happy lady!

Home is Wherever I'm with You

My husband and I will be celebrating our fourth anniversary in June and already we have moved five times (the sixth will be at the end of the month). Oh the joys of building and selling houses!

Anyways when I saw this saying at doe-c-doe I thought it was absolutely perfect for our particular situation and what a fun piece to embroider! (Although don't get me started on iron transfer pencils, errr!) I plan on hanging it in the new house along with pictures of our family above and below it.

Tonight I've been preparing for a couple other embroidery projects. I've found that it really is a fun activity to do in front of mindless television (ex.The Bachelor). Anyways, keep on crafting!
