Another Shirt to Dress

I made this dress back in August.
(Yep, way behind in posting my projects, there's more coming.)
I did the same thing as my simple dress tutorial, which is really quick to whip up. Unlike adding a skirt to a shirt (which is even easier) I added a tube of fabric.
I made it out of some really cute jersey knit speckled with birds, snails, butterflies and flowers.
As an added bonus the five strand headband I made her a couple of years ago goes perfectly!

Happy Saturday!

Perler Bead Keychains

I had my friends kids over a couple of weeks ago and I had been feeling like we needed to craft something. They are older, ranging in age from 8-12, so they needed something a bit more complex then my usual kids crafts
With all the Perler action over at Pink Stripey Socks (I'm talking stuff like Bracelets and Bowls, among others....this girls got creativity and a whole lotta beads!),
I thought why not do some funky designs and make keychains/zipper pulls.
All you have to do is leave one bead out near to one corner so you can thread the key ring through.
I did some too, I couldn't help myself.
I used a cross stitch pattern from Pixel Power to make a mini Jack Sparrow. I also made some other random ones.
The Pencil and smiley face were made by the oldest girl, she had plans to put them on her backpack.

I've had the heart hanging in my vehicle for awhile but figured it could also fit in with this post.
Another idea for ya, now get some Perler beads and craft!

Happy Wednesday!

insta-pics #54

Not doing great at keeping up with my insta-pic posts, oops. Anyways...

- The girls and I went to a park in town that has no play sets just green space, it was nice for a change. They loved to watch the fountain.
- We did some baking to give to some neighbors. T was quite into it.
- S started Preschool this last week, more pics coming.
- I treated myself to a new scentsy plugin. I love it! Especially since it has a yummy fall scent in it (Cider Mill).
- T decided to do some art work on a closet door. Apparently the white was to much to handle, it needed some color.
- Hubby had been busy prepping our yard for sod, which came Friday, yay!!

- oh ya, and we had fun with a wig....since the halloween stuff is now out!

We are still trying to soak up what we have left of the nice weather.
I think we are going hiking today after church to enjoy the beautiful fall weather and colors.
I love this time of year!
Happy Sunday!

Shrinky Dink Jewelery

S got a shrinky dink jewelery kit for her birthday and when T was napping we pulled it out for a nice quiet time activity.
She loved doodling out pictures and so did I. She also loved watching them curl up in the oven. We made enough charms for a bracelet and two necklaces. Here's her bracelet:

I requested she draw one especially for me to put on a necklace. She drew a sun, and I love it.
What a great keepsake!

...and the little stinker wouldn't let me get a pic of her with her jewelery, err. She was too busy looking at it, haha.

As for my own crafting, I've been wanting to share with you my latest embroidery project. I finally got around to making myself a monogrammed cushion for our master bedroom. Complete with our year of establishment!

S is off to her first day of Preschool later this morning, eek! She is so excited!
Happy Tuesday!

Princess and the Frog Birthday Party

My big girl turned 4 last week! She starts preschool next week and my heart is feeling a wee bit heavy with the thought of her growing up so fast.
I'll stop right there as I will most likely become a blubbering mess.
On with the party....

This year S requested a princess party. I was all over that seeing as last year we went with more of a 'boy' theme of a Pir-ette Party.
As there were going to be boys still attending this princess party I wanted to incorporate a part for them (something different than just a prince or a knight) so a Frog was the perfect solution not to mention cute and fun to decorate with.
Have a look at S's,

Princess and the Frog Birthday Party
(not the Disney version, more of The Frog Prince classic)

We had 15 kids (2 are missing from this pic) and 7 adults....that's what I call a party!

Take home treats: little frogs, gummy frogs, and a necklace. As well they got to take home their crafts.

It was such a great party! She had so much fun!

Some details, inspiration and links:

- Invitiations inspired by a pin I didn't pin and now can't find (err).
- Plastic table cloth folded to become table skirt, tutorial at That's my Letter.
- Crowns for curtain ties, idea from Bubbly Nature Creations.
- Beads hanging from chandelier inspired by this pin from The Party Press.
- Glitter Crowns and Frog foam stickers (on invites) from Walmart.
- Foam Crowns, stick-on Jewels (used to decorate crowns and on utensils), Fake lilies and reeds, Foam Bears(frogs), Googly eyes and 'tongues' from Dollarama.
- I painted some Kerr jars gold with Krylon metalic spray paint.
- I made crowns for various frogs from an old Christmas glitter bow, which I cut apart and hot glued.
- Tissue pompoms tutorial from Martha Stewart Crafts.
- Birthday banner I made for a previous party.
- I made soup for lunch as well as various snacks and treats. Including jello-jigglers in shape of lips and chocolate covered oreos.
- For activities the kids decorated crowns, made frogs with stick out tongues and I read them the story 'Kiss the Frog'. We had a lot of fun!

If you're interested, check out the rest of my parties.
