Creepy Crawlers & Spooky Treats

* Originally posted fall 2010, but for the sake of inspiring others,
posting in linky parties fall 2011

Halloween is tomorrow, yay! I have the costume sitting and waiting, the pumpkins are ready to be carved tonight, and the candy is sitting out tempting me! In halloween spirit I thought I would share a couple of appropriate projects:
The first being a frame I altered during the recent scrapbook retreat, I have put my babies first halloween picture in it. I made the spider costume that she is wearing as well, it was super simple!
The second project is yummy devils food chocolate cupcakes decorated with black chocolate icing and purple sprinkles as well as homemade pokes!
Everyone have a safe and treat filled day tomorrow!! Watch out for the tricksters!
Happy Halloween!

Love

On Thanksgiving weekend I attended a friends wedding. I made them this LOVE mini album as part of their gift. I was pretty happy with how it turned out (hope she was too!). The chipboard base album I believe was a Bobunny product, they sell them in many different words such as Baby, Family, Christmas, etc. When I saw the Love one I knew that it would make a great wedding gift! I was able to get some great pics of the couple off of facebook and their wedding website (so sneaky). I also made a matching card out of the scraps which was able to hold a gift card. I love the vintage glam feel of it!

What Fun!

This past weekend I attended the scrap retreat a local scrapbooking store offers twice a year. It was my fifth time attending. As usual it was fabulous! Nothing beats a weekend surrounded by friends and getting caught up with my scrapbooks. Not to mention getting an amazing goodie bag, being able to shop on site and having meals cooked for you!! It is soo much fun!! Here are a few pics from the weekend:

Packed up and ready to go! No need for running home to get anything, haha.

A view of part of the main scrapping area.

The ladies workin hard.( Notice the Timmies cup? Many runs throughout the day to keep us going til 2am'ish'!)

Had to get a shot of myself scrappin.( The tables to the right is the awesome potluck snack area)

Part of the store, a tab system was set up so that was great!

My friend Jody and I saying goodbye at the end of the weekend :(

Can't wait til March!!!

Seven More Monkey's Sittin' on my Bed!

Well I just finished 7 more sock monkey's!!They took a long time to complete so I have decided to take a break from 'monkeying' around (Hand sewing all the limbs on is really time consuming).
Drum roll... That brings my grand monkey total to 12!
....next up: OWLS! I will be posting a sneak peek within the next couple of weeks!

On to other exciting news (for me anyways!), I'm heading to a scrap retreat tomorrow night for the whole weekend,YIPPEE! So I'm sure I'll come back from that with more goodies to show you!

When Husband is Away, Wife will ...Create!

Well my husband had hockey last night so after I put the little one to sleep I slipped into my craft room and came up with this! A homemade memory match game!
I was wondering how to use up scrap paper (besides making cards), when at a garage sale I came upon these rectangular chipboard pieces perfect for this project! I also found the tin at the same garage sale, add some great paper and stamps and VOILA! you have a game ( not to mention a cute decor piece for my girlies room)!
I used random scraps of paper from various companies and a handful of Close to my Heart stampsets focusing mostly on the Childhood Portrait set. I painted the chipboard in an off white and stamped images with black ink. If you're looking for ideas for scraps this worked really well, if you can't find precut rectangular chipboard, cut your own (the size of mine was 1.5 x 2.5).
Have a super day!

Tink in Ink!

A card I made recently featuring the fabulous Tinkerbell! I finally got around to using the Tink stampset I bought a year ago. I also used some CTMH product: True Friends stampset, Creme Brulee, Topiary and Black Inks, Sweet Leaf ribbon, and the Blending Pen. You can't really see but her wings have Heavenly Blue ink swirled around and her skin is colored in with Baby Pink ink.
I have decided that I am probably going to use the Glitter Gel to add some more sparkle, the rhinestones just aren't enough bling! Let's face it Tink is all about glittery pixie dust! Sorry that you only get to see the pre-glitter Tink! Hope you have a 'Pixie Perfect' day!

You say obsessed like it's a bad thing?...Eclipse Layout!

Just finished my Eclipse layout, and I am pretty happy with the way it turned out! I used a pattern from the Close to my Heart Magic book, it was so easy with the picture sizes and paper cutting instructions! I also was able to use the little Dressy Edward Stamp from the Greeting Farm which I had shown in an earlier post (no need to include Bella, haha). For all you Twilighters out there I included the poem 'Fire and Ice' by Robert Frost which is featured at the beginning of the novel as well as the movie AND I also used the cut red ribbon like on the novel cover, just a couple of fun details!

Thankful that my dessert turned out! ...Among other things...

Hope all you Canadians enjoyed your Thanksgiving weekend! I know I did with a traditional 'loosen the belt' type of meal and also a wedding of a good friend! Spending time with family and friends during the holidays is absolutely priceless! I am so thankful that we have the opportunity to see people from another province so regularly, especially my parents! I was also thinking yesterday how lucky I am not to have to go back to work after my Mat-leave was finished. I am very thankful that I can stay home with my little girl and watch her grow-up, I am also thankful that I have such a great husband that works so hard to provide for us! I count myself very blessed, I could go on and on with my 'thankful' list but I'll move on....
Well this year I was left with the responsibility to bring the dessert for the Thanksgiving meal. Not a huge deal but I was trying out a new recipe so I was "thankful" that it turned out great!! I made a carrot and pumpkin cake with a brown sugar cream cheese icing (some of you might have seen it in the fabulous, Kraft What's Cooking magazine, try it for yourself it is Yummy!...not to mention easy!).

To get in the Halloween spirit a Haunted House Mini Album! It showcases my Halloween's through the years up until the year 2008! It's a great decor item on my mantel (yes my house is already decorated for halloween due to my lack of thanksgiving decor....maybe next year I'll take care of that!) Hope you enjoy!
